WEST JORDAN — The West Jordan Planning Commission paved the way Wednesday for the Steadman Barn to be moved to the city's historical museum.

The commission approved a new site plan and permits.

The City Council voted Tuesday to amend an original agreement between the city and the West Jordan Historical Society in order to allow the move.

The original agreement came with a plan of future buildings that would be part of the museum. In order for the two-story wooden barn to be moved to the new site near 7800 South and 2000 West, the agreement required an amendment.

The barn, which is more than 100 years old, will be moved from the southwest corner of Mya Nichol Circle to the museum on Sept. 30.

Qwest, Rocky Mountain Power and Comcast will move their utility lines at no cost so the barn can be moved, and many others have donated time and labor, said Nola Duncan, a member of the planning commission.

"This is an exciting thing for our community," she said.
