LOGAN — A fire caused about $150,000 in damage Monday evening in what used to be the Zanavoo Lodge in Logan Canyon.

The fire started in the attic of a restaurant that takes up half of the old, log building at 4880 E. U.S. 89. Flames were contained to the attic, said Logan Fire Marshal Liz Hunsaker, and the building was not structurally damaged.

About 30 firefighters first doused the flames, then carried bags full of sawdust from the attic to the parking lot. The sawdust had been used as insulation, but had to be removed because it could hide still-smoldering hot spots, Hunsaker said.

One person staying in a hotel behind the restaurant was evacuated, but no one was hurt, Hunsaker said.

An investigation into the fire's cause won't begin until all the sawdust is removed, Hunsaker said.
