DeLoris Wright Sandberg

"Deedy"

Our beloved mother, matriarch of the Sandberg family, passed away the morning of January 12, 2008. Her death from a heart attack came only after waiting for the last of her five children to be at her bedside. As she crossed from this life to her next, her newest great-grandson was being born.

DeLoris was born in Salt Lake City on March 6, 1934 to Lurla Darlene (Dee) Harrington and Milo James Wright. She loved her siblings dearly- Niles Wright, Julian (Sherlene) Wright, Lacey (Larry) Vincent, Toni (John) Como and Shelly (Larry) Jaskulek.

In 1951, DeLoris graduated from Neodesha High in Neodesha, Kansas. She was part of the Pep Club, acted in school plays and earned a scholarship in art. After returning to Salt Lake City, she met Merrill Glen Sandberg on a blind date. On Sept. 28, 1951 they were married. At Merrill's passing they had celebrated 55 years of marriage.

DeLoris was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and grand-mother. Her strength, love and dedication to dad helped him through his years dealing with Polio. Dad felt that he couldn't have made it without mom's help. She always said that her greatest blessing in life was that she had a chance to see her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children grow up. She was also a loving aunt, cousin and friend.

She loved sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, traveling, fishing, playing Bonco with her friends and activities with "the Hats." She supported dad through all of his 22 years in baseball by being his cheerleader, scorekeeper and even cooking in the snack bar.
