It would be nice to bring back the fireside chats that America had during the Franklin D. Roosevelt years. His chats were broadcast during the golden age of radio. Families all over America would sit and listen to their president.
Some people say it was World War II that got us out of the Great Depression. But this was actually a time that the whole nation was unified in reaching the same goal — winning the war.
The American economy is broken again. We can temporarily bandage it with bailout money, regulations and stimulus money. But throwing more laws and money at the symptoms are not going to fix the underlying cause — greed.
Perhaps a fireside chat once in a while will remind us of the values that make America great — people working together, honesty, hard work, respect for each other and serving each other.
