Why is it that gas stations in Utah sell 85 octane gas when most, if not all, vehicle owners manuals recommend 87 or higher? And don't say it is our elevation. All stations in Denver (5,280 feet) sell only 87 octane or higher.
I recently had to replace my catalytic converter, and my mechanic told me that it was most likely due to running 85 octane. I think we're getting ripped off by not having 87 octane as the lowest grade.
