Camp Hinckley in Running Springs, Calif., serves several hundred youth from the Victor Valley each year.
Owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the camp — which was severely damaged last year in the devastating Running Springs Fire — recently received a $1.9 million facelift.
Two buildings that were destroyed in the fire were rebuilt, and two others that had been gutted due to water damage were restored. The outdoor amphitheater also burned and had to be rebuilt, and the swimming pool was completely refurbished, as well.
The camp, which is used year round, has 180 beds in 10 multi-room cabins. Hundreds of High Desert youth and thousands of youth from other parts of the Inland Empire attend the numerous youth conferences and girls' camps each year at Camp Hinckley.
