Barbara Jean Slayden Blackhurst

Barbara Jean Slayden Blackhurst passed away peacefully on February 15, 2008 with her sweetheart by her side. Barbara was born July 12, 1930 in Preston, Idaho to Charles Cecil Slayden and Hazel Ione Godfrey. She graduated from Pocatello High School. She then moved to Salt Lake City where she met and married Robert L. Blackhurst in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1952.She loved being an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and filled many positions including Primary, Relief Society and Stake Primary Presidents. She and her husband served a full-time mission in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. She enjoyed working in the Jordan River Temple. She loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed singing in church choirs, excelled at cooking, crocheting and loved taking drives. She loved her friends and set a great example for all she met.
She is survived by her husband and five children, Rob (Doug Balli) Rick (Linda), Dave (Connie) Ann Lewis (Fred), Alan (Line); and her 13
loving grandchildren; her brother; Jack (Pat); her sister, Deanna
(Dennis); many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held
Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 12:00 Noon at the Riverton 16th Ward, 1208 West 12400 South. Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment Mountain View
