The LDS Church now takes the official position that being in this country illegally will not affect your membership status in the church. Elder Marlin K. Jensen stated that the church sees it as "akin, in a way, to a civil trespass."
I'm curious. Will the church begin to apply the same doctrine to those individuals who refuse to pay their income tax? I'm certainly not condoning such illegal behavior, but currently you will lose your temple recommend and possibly even your membership in the church if you refuse to pay taxes.
