Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common form of the disease that afflicts children, usually boys, has some researchers focusing on managing and prolonging the life expectancy of Duchenne (pronounced doo-SHEN) looking at it as a chronic condition, rather then just focusing on a cure.
