1911 ~ 2008

ROOSEVELT- Rosella Luke Johnson, age 96, passed away March 10, 2008 in the Uintah Care Center in Vernal.

She was born October 9, 1911 to John H. and Ivy Viola Morrill Luke in Junction Piute County Utah. She married Smith Johnson, October 10, 1934 in the St. George LDS Temple. He died June 2, 1970.

Rosella taught school for 26 years, she was the first remedial reading teacher in the State. She was very instrumental in writing the State of Utah's Remedial Reading Program. She was an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Keith) Mortensen, Roosevelt; Eleanor (Richard) Breitenstein, Ridge Crest, CA; Burton (Suzanne) Johnson, SLC; Stanley (Billie Dawn) Johnson, Vernal; 21 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brother, H. Alan

(Janet) Luke, Salt Lake City; sister, Retta Taylor, Bountiful.

She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, and sister,

Wilma Anderson.

Funeral services Sat., March 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Myton LDS Chapel.
