Edward Jack Ewing
1927 ~ 2008
"Gone Traveling"
Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa Edward "Jack" Ewing, age 80, died suddenly and unexpectedly of heart failure at St. Mark's Hospital March 14, 2008.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, June 7, 1927. He married Geraldine Riley, September 15, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the father of nine children, the grandfather of twenty and the great-grandfather of two.
He graduated from the University of Utah and was a dedicated Ute fan. He knew every verse to "Utah Man" and could be counted on to sing it with gusto at all football and basketball games, and other random, less appropriate times. His wry sense of humor was loved by most, not so much by some. He served an LDS Mission to Ontario, Canada in 1947. He was a tireless worker for the LDS church throughout his life, serving in many positions, with dedication and enthusiasm.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; children, Jackson (Sandy), Ann Simonds, David (Connie), Ralph (Sarah), Virginia (Mike) Egan, Gerri Lyn (Scott) Cowley, Mark, Mike (Carmen); and brother, Reed Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents and baby daughter, Kathleen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2008, at 12:00 noon at the Winder 3rd Ward, 4551 S. 1200 E. Friends may call Tuesday March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive and at the ward one hour prior to
services. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
