There was no love lost between Jack Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. They thoroughly disliked each other almost to the point of disdain. Kennedy ended up winning the presidential nomination. Nevertheless, he knew he could not win the Southern vote without Johnson. So, animosity notwithstanding, he chose him for his running mate. Accordingly, they both won the presidential election in November, Kennedy as president, Johnson as vice president.

So will it be this year, when the team of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (or vice versa) runs against an equally formidable Republican team of John McCain and whoever he chooses.

My prediction? A close win by the team of John McCain and Mitt Romney.
