Duane Karl Mahoney, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 to return to his Heavenly Father's arms. He was well loved by his family and friends who will miss him terribly.He was born March 4, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Denton and LaVelle Mahoney.
He is survived by his wife Jan
(Jenny), his daughter Traci (Dan), his son Aaron (Peggy) and his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Alyssa, Dustin and Christpher. He is also survived by his father Denton Mahoney and siblings: Gerald, Stuart (Dot), Myrna (Bob), Val (Tiffanie), Wendell
(Cheryl), Steven (Denise), Colby (Brandy), Peggy (Jay), Donnie Sue (Dan), Doris (Paul) and Larry (Karon). He was preceded in death by his mother LaVelle, his step-mother Dorothy and his daughters Lee Ann and Carla Rae.
He loved the gospel and served an honorable mission in the Southern States for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many leadership positions and especially loved the 11 year old scouts and took such pride in their
achievements.
He worked at Utah Power & Light for his entire 42 year career, working as a contractor for them even after retirement. He will be remembered by his many acts of kindness, his loving and gentle nature and incredible dry humor; as well as his service to everyone. He loved the outdoors; 4-wheeling in Moab, driving ATV's, farming, camping and hunting with friends and family were among the many activities he enjoyed. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., March 29th, 2 p.m. at the Country Park 2nd Ward, 1988 W. 11400 S. Friends and family may call at the church on Fri., March 28th from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment South Jordan Cemetery. Condolences may be sent the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com
