Together Again
Helen Scott Thorpe Staker, loving mother and grandmother, 88, passed away on March 23, 2008 at Aspen Ridge Rehabilitation Center of a lingering illness.Born March 31, 1919, Logan, UT to Thomas Brenchley Thorpe and Ivy Scott Thorpe. Married Ira Wayne Staker on April 17, 1938, Big Cottonwood Canyon. Later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on July 16, 1992. Wayne passed away on November 11, 2003.
Member LDS Church and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Our mother was loved and respected by all that knew her. We will miss her greatly, but are at peace with the knowledge that she is with our father and we will see her again.
Survived by children, Gary W. (Shanni), Susan Meyer (Rod), Paul R. (Lawna), Scott T. (Robin), 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stewart and Donna Staker.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, March 27, 2008, 12:00 noon at the Butler 20th Ward, 1435 East 7200 South. Friends may call Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 p.m. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
