WASHINGTON — The United States Fire Agency will grant more than $700,000 to the Eagle Mountain and Clinton city fire departments, Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, announced Friday.
The USFA Fire Operation and Firefighter Safety Program will give $632,550 to Eagle Mountain's fire department to hire six full-time paramedics and $71,865 to Clinton City Fire Department to purchase a generator for the fire station and new fitness equipment for the firefighters.
"Local firefighters make great sacrifices to keep our Utah communities safe," said Bennett, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee that approves the funding for the fire grants each year. "These grants will allow our fire departments to acquire additional resources needed to help respond to our growing communities."
USFA is an agency at the Department of Homeland Security.
