Orin Lawrence "Skeeter" Lund

1917 ~ 2008

Lt. Col. Orin Lawrence Lund augured-in peacefully at his home on April 19, 2008 of causes incident to age.

Orin was born May 16, 1917 to Royal and Alice Jensen Lund in Centerfield, UT. Married Polly Johnson, later divorced. Married Beverly Stringham on Aug. 8, 1958.

Orin served active duty in the Army Air Corp, U.S. Air Force and Utah Air National Guard. During his military career he served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam as a pilot. Orin was also a founding member of the Utah Air National Guard, and was a flight instructor and pilot at Thunderbird Field. His love of flying came early in life and he became the youngest licensed pilot in Utah at the age of 16. He was also employed by and retired from Union Pacific Railroad.

Survived by his wife Beverly and four children; James, (Betsy) Lund, Valerie Lund, Scott Lund, and Patricia (Ken) Baxter; grandchildren; Michael, Chereneh, Katie (Daniel), David, and Molly; great-grandchildren; Taiven and Kailyer. Also survived by sisters; Peggy Greely, Shirley Curd, Dorothy Christensen, and brother Val Lund. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Cleo Burger.

Services will be held Wednesday April 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Willow Creek State Center, 2350 East Creek Road, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.) and at the Stake Center one hour prior to services. Auguring-in (interment) will follow services at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
