Jeanne Hightower Steele

A loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend died suddenly on April 17th in Socorro, NM.Born in Salt Lake City, UT, she graduated from Judge Memorial HS where she was Junior Achievement Outstanding Young Businesswoman of the Year. She attended Boston University and graduated from the University of Utah. She worked in the Dept. of Education at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. In 1998 she moved to Colorado where she met her high school friend Steve Steele.
They were married in Boulder. There she worked at the Geological Society of America , and the University of Colorado. They were blessed with two miracle children, Race (5) and Scout (3) The family moved to Socorro, NM where Steve works at VLA-NRAO. In Socorro Jeanne was a full time mother, a valued active community worker.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, children, Race and Scout, parents, Ross and Lindakay Hightower, brother, David Johnson and family, sisters, Julia Kennedy (Joel), Jill Hightower (Boyd), Jennifer Hightower, nephew, Preston Leaper, life friend, Karen Backstrom, aunt, Dianne Johnson, cousins Kevin, Darren, Brian Johnson, Allison Johnson, Adams, uncle, Dan Hightower(Terry) and family, aunt, Jane Cobble(Bill), cousins, Anne Hightower Trainer(David), and Elizabeth Hightower. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, John and Emma Johnson, uncle, Gary H Johnson: paternal grandparents, Russell and Margaret Hightower. She left close loving friends everywhere.
"Wilbur never forgot Charlotte. Although he loved her children and grandchildren dearly, none of the new spiders ever quite took her place in his heart. She was in a class by herself. It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. Charlotte was both." As Was Jeanne.
A memorial service will be held May 3, 2008 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary at 12 noon
