OGDEN — A man was shot in the chest over the weekend in what police are calling a gang-related attack.

Victor Esquivel, 18, was shot just before 11 p.m. Friday on the 3200 block of Jefferson Avenue, said Ogden Police Lt. Scott Conley.

Esquivel was hit in his chest and left hand, but police were not sure if he was struck by one round or two. He was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital for surgery.

Esquivel was walking on the sidewalk, when a sedan turned around and stopped, Conley said. A group of people got out of the car and began following Esquivel, who started running. Witnesses heard at least two shots fired and at least one hit Esquivel, police said.
