Harmon Jex Tobler

1927 ~ 2008

Harmon Jex Tobler died peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2008.He was born in St. George, UT January 17, 1927 to Leah Leavitt Tobler and Harmon Christian Tobler.

He spent his youth in Bunkerville, NV. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served in World War II on the USS Blackhawk. Upon completion of his military service, he served faithfully in the LDS Holland mission where he formed lifelong friendships with fellow missionaries. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Bybee in the Salt Lake Temple in November of 1950. He established Gray's Furniture in Sacramento, CA; was recruited by Dayton's in Minneapolis where he created the Dayton's Home stores. He was President and CEO of Joseph Magnin's and Gucci stores. He traveled the U.S. as a consultant to numerous furniture stores. He loved teaching Gospel Doctrine and Seminary courses and served where ever he was called. He influenced not only his own children's lives, but was a strong figure for several

nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife; children, Gareth (Mardie), Steve (Jeanne), Karl (Barbara), Marianne (Greg) Garrett and Valine (Art) Vikari; and his sisters, Lela Lacy and Mildred Hunt. He will also be missed by his 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Lee and Evan; and sisters, Ailene, Birdie, Lois and Norma.

Funeral services will be held Mon., June 23, 1 p.m. at the Midvalley 6th Ward: 1106 E. 8050 S., Sandy, UT, where the viewing will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment Bunkerville, NV. Online condolences: www.jenkins-soffe.com
