Melba Dean Bateman Holt passed away on June 17, 2008 in Murray, UT of natural causes.Born June 24, 1915 in Sandy, UT, daughter of Joseph Deseret and
Lenora Baguley Bateman. Married Dale Royal Holt, Sr. April 18, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1999.
Melba was always active in church and loved having her family for gatherings of any kind. She was a long-time employee of the Newhouse Hotel and was a "master" of crossword puzzles.
Survived by her children: Janice (Milton) Holt Peterson, Dale Royal Jr. (Jeannette), Jay B. (Anita), and Bryce K. (Lorna); 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; 11 siblings; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Mon., June 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Millcreek 9th Ward, 4220 S. Jeannine Drive (420 E) in Murray. Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment: South Jordan City Cemetery.
