Delbert Kim Johnson

1940 ~ 2008

Delbert Kim Johnson, our devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away June 24, 2008, at his home in Naperville, IL.Kim was born December 27, 1940, in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the second of six children born to Delbert C. Johnson and Carolyn Dalton Johnson. Kim attended Salt Lake public schools and graduated from East High School. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia from 1960-1962. When he returned to the United States, he completed a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in chemistry from the University of Utah.

Kim married Louise E. Carbine for time and all eternity on September 6, 1968, in the Salt Lake Temple. Kim was devoted to Louise and together they were blessed with eight children. Family was his most important priority and throughout his life he always made time for them, whether it was on the golf course, playing catch, riding bikes, attending children's sporting events, or providing counsel and priesthood blessings.

Kim is well known for his fun personality; he was always teasing and making others laugh and enjoy life. His life was an example of everything he taught: his care for others, his love of the scriptures, and his joy in serving his Heavenly Father.

Professionally, Kim worked in sales in the chemical industry in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. He spent the majority of his career as an independent development manager for C.P. Hall Company. A faithful member of the LDS Church, Kim served in many different positions including in Elders' Quorum presidencies, ward and stake Young Men presidencies, as a bishop and bishopric counselor, seminary teacher, temple worker, and as a counselor in a stake presidency. Kim was an avid sports enthusiast all his life-especially tennis, racquetball, basketball, and most of all, golf.
