FARMINGTON — A man charged again in a cold-case slaying made his first appearance on the new charges in 2nd District Court on Wednesday.

Edward Lewis Owens, 57, will face a preliminary hearing on Aug. 29, where a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to make him stand trial on a first-degree felony murder charge.

Davis County prosecutors said new DNA evidence led to the refiled charge. Owens is accused of killing 25-year-old Karin Strom in 1980.
