The church has launched an upgraded version of its online meetinghouse locator, which can be accessed directly at maps.lds.org or through links found at LDS.org and Mormon.org. The enhanced program incorporates features from Google and Microsoft map search engines, providing users with a visual outlay of streets, distances, and locations. Larry Richman, product manager for LDS.org, said that when compared to the former version the upgrades also provide users with more precise directions to chapels located in the United States and internationally. To help users locate the correct meetinghouse, the program includes many functions, such as: The ability to zoom in or out and drag the map around. Road, satellite, and aerial views. The option to switch between Google and Microsoft maps. A display of meetinghouses closest to your location, including assigned congregation, language-specific wards or branches, and young single adult (YSA) or student units. A link to the units Web site (if available), name of bishop or branch president, and meetinghouse phone numbers. Access through a mobile device that connects to the Web. The option to use a Place Marker instead of typing in an address. The new program also allows users to provide suggestions and corrections through the Feedback link, which is monitored closely to make updates.
