Lee Davidson's article on Jared Whitley's tenure in the Bush White House (Jan. 16) should have been placed in the fantasy section of the newspaper. Mr. Whitley's list of "The Bush Record" was headed by the most heinous example of this soon-to-be-forgotten administration's revisionist history project.
Mr. Whitley obviously has no sense of history. Bush was the president when 9/11 happened. It was on "W's" watch! As president, he ignored the intelligence before 9/11 and then afterward disbanded the CIA section responsible for the apprehension of Osama bin Laden.
Then, in the following seven years, we never came close to capturing bin Laden, even letting him escape in 2002 when we had him surrounded at Tora Bora. And now the president admits on Larry King that he does not know where bin Laden is hiding.
An amazing legacy of what can only be called stunning incompetence.
