The trail starts next to the restroom and comes to a trail junction. Take Timpooneke-Chris' Flat Trail to the trail split at the top of the hill. Go left on Trail 151 heading uphill. You enter aspens and conifers as the trail switchbacks up, levels off and drops down into a meadow. At 1 mile, you arrive at the meadow and cross a footbridge to a trail junction. With views of Mount Timpanogos behind you, take the Great Western Trail. The trail becomes steeper as you make your way to the ridgeline. At the ridgeline is a trail junction for Bear Canyon. Go left staying on the Great Western Trail. The trail smooths out on the ridge and gently climbs. At 1.96 miles you leave the ridge and enter a beautiful meadow. In the grassy meadow the trail flattens and is a nice place for a break. Leaving the meadow the trail drops and comes to a trail junction. Go left, staying on Trail 151. From the junction the trail arrives at a dirt road and primitive camping area. Continue in the same direction on the dirt road and watch for Trail 151. Leaving the camping area you cross the Timpooneke Road and the trail heads down into conifers to the next meadow. From the meadow, there is a large scree field above you. The hiking group hiked just past this area and turned around. Explore more on this trail!
