I would try to explain to Domenick DeCaria (Readers' Forum, Dec. 20) why Mitt Romney is right that government never creates jobs and Mr. DeCaria's example of ATK is mistaken, but it would take more words than a letter to the editor can hold. So let me recommend that he search the Deseret News Web site and read a few past columns by the brilliant economist and teacher Walter Williams, who explains simply and clearly how the visible jobs paid for by taxes (like the ATK jobs) are outweighed by the jobs invisibly lost to taxation.
