Peter Csathy has joined Sorenson Media as president and chief executive officer. He will direct all areas of the company's operations and initiatives. Csathy comes to the company with more than 20 years of experience in the digital media industry, including most recently as chief executive officer of SightSpeed, president and chief operating officer of Musicmatch and chief operating officer of eNow.
Jaci Hoff has joined the Ogden office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Hoff will serve Weber, Morgan and Box Elder counties. Hoff's real estate career began in 2004 and she worked at a pair of other companies before joining Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
Kenneth D. Jeppesen has been named a partner at Schmitt, Griffiths, Smith & Co., specializing in audit and attestation services. He has more than nine years of public accounting experience, during which he has provided a wide variety of attestation services to both public and private companies. Prior to joining Schmitt, Griffiths, Smith & Co., Jeppesen served as an audit manager at another company. His education includes a pair of degrees from Utah State University.
Steven Bogden and Randall W. Owen have been appointed to oversee the Salt Lake City operations of Coldwell Banker Commercial. Bogden has 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and has been named principal broker and managing director of Coldwell Banker Commercial in Salt Lake. Prior to his appointment, Bogden served as national director for business development. Before that, he was president and principal broker of a retail tenant representative company. Owen, who has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, will serve as chief operations officer. Prior to his appointment, Owen was director of asset services. His senior management positions include divisional asset manager with one company and senior vice president at another. His international experience included executive director responsibilities in Brazil and overseeing all South America operations of the latter company. His education includes a degree from the University of Utah.
Curtis Clark has joined GSBS Architects, where he will lead the Sustainable & Energy Services operations. Clark is a former state energy manager for the Utah Department of Administrative Services. His experience includes conducting energy modeling and finding ways to improve the efficiency of buildings and the health of its occupants.
Elliott N. Taylor has joined the Salt Lake City office of Parsons Behle & Latimer. Taylor is a member of the Corporate and Tax Department and represents clients in securities law, assists corporate and partnership clients with initial formation and operation, and provides services for business acquisitions and consolidations, joint venture arrangements, distribution and licensing arrangements, business asset purchases and sales. Taylor's education includes a degree from Utah State University.
Scott Brown and Barrie McKay have been promoted at Questar Gas. Brown is vice president of operations. He became the company's general manager of operations in May 2008. Prior to that, he served as general counsel for both Questar Gas and Questar Pipeline. McKay is now general manager of state regulatory affairs. Previously he was manager of state regulatory affairs. He is responsible for managing state regulatory activities in Utah and Wyoming and the energy-efficiency activities in Utah.
Penny Dahlen has joined the University of Phoenix Utah Campus as campus chairwoman for health and human services. She will oversee 500 students and 50 faculty members. She also will also oversee the University's Community Counseling Center. Dahlen is a former faculty member at Montana State University, Capella University and the University of Wyoming.
Constance "Connie" White has been appointed vice president of compliance at the Western Electricity Coordinating Council. White will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for WECC's Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program and will direct all aspects of the CMEP, including the registration process, audits and investigations, and enforcement. White is the former program director of the Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System. She began her career in private legal practice before moving to the Utah Department of Commerce in 1984, where she served as executive director from 1993 to 1995. She also served on the Utah Public Service Commission, starting in 1995.
Ellen Parrish and Chris Hofheins have been appointed board members of the Utah Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS Utah). Parrish has been selected to serve as treasurer on the board. She is the marketing manager for VCBO Architecture and has 15 years of marketing experience.She has been in the architecture/engineering/construction Industry for three years. Hofheins has been appointed as the sponsorship director at-large. He has 10 years of experience as a structural engineer and is a principal with BHB Consulting Engineers, which he co-founded in 2002.
Cynthia J. Burrows has been appointed to the Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) Governing Authority board. A professor of chemistry at the University of Utah, Burrows is pursuing research that seeks to understand the processes of oxidative damage to DNA, from which stem health issues related to cancer and aging. Burrows replaces Dr. Cathy Petti, who moved to California to work with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
Jevine Lane has joined the Utah Technology Council as its event planner. Lane has 14 years of event-planning experience. Prior to joining the UTC, Lane was the vice president of a chamber of commerce and also served as the board director for Women in Business.
Marianne Sorensen has been elected to the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Sorensen is an shareholder at Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough PC and is associate managing partner for the firm's St. George office. Sorensen has expertise in general commercial matters, particularly involving real estate. She advises business clients on privacy, confidentiality and e-commerce issues, as well as the legal aspects of advertising and promotions.
Frances Hume, the relationship manager for organizational leadership and strategy at Brigham Young University, has been appointed as chair of the HR Certification Institute's Board of Directors. The institute is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. Hume has more than 30 years of human resource experience and is an entrepreneur, having founded her consultancy in 1998.
