NEW YORK (AP) — "Vanities" has found a home off-Broadway.

Second Stage Theatre says it will present the New York premiere of the musical which had been set for Broadway this season but then postponed because of the uncertain economic climate.

The show opens July 16 and will star Lauren Kennedy, Sarah Stiles and Anneliese van der Pol as three best friends who go from high school cheerleaders to adulthood. Preview performances begin June 30.

The musical features a book by Jack Heifner and a score by David Kirshenbaum. The director is Judith Ivey. "Vanities" is based on Heifner's play, which ran for more than 1,300 performances off-Broadway in the late 1970s.
