LAYTON — Ogden's Zac Blair took control early and cruised to a 5 and 3 victory over Alex Sutton to win the Men's State Amateur golf tournament Sunday afternoon at Valley View Golf Course.

Blair won the battle of 18-year-olds as he grabbed a 2 up lead after the morning 18, then never let Sutton get back in the match, closing it out on the 15th hole, when Sutton conceded the hole and the match.

"It's great, it feels awesome," said Blair after being presented with the large State Amateur trophy. He follows in the footsteps of his father Jimmy, who won the State Am as an 18-year-old before going to BYU.

Blair will play for BYU this fall as a freshman, while Sutton will be a sophomore at Weber State.
