Mormon Austin Ainge will be coaching the Celtics' D-League affiliate this fall, just a couple of hours up route 95 from his dad Danny in the bowels of the TD Garden. Two years removed from captaining the BYU basketball team, Austin is getting the opportunity to help his father keep the Celtics atop the basketball world. In the official press release from the Red Claws, several folks speak glowingly of the younger Ainge. "Austin will be a great communicator and teacher," says Celtics coach Doc Rivers. Red Claws GM Jerry Jennings says that Ainge "blew me away with his ability to analyze players and game strategy. When I was a young coach with the Celtics, video was the new revolution. Today, it's statistical analysis. Austin brings that to a whole new level. Combine that with his ability to develop players and his background, and he is going to be a fantastic head coach."It's great that Austin Ainge, who was hired as a scout by the Celtics last year and coached in the summer league for them this year, is getting an opportunity. Addressing the situation in 2008, Danny Ainge said that "Austin has been one of my basketball confidantes for the past 10 years. He knows the game."
