The United States has the best health-care system in the world, but it is expensive. We do need to fix several of the problems, but it is not government insurance policies. An area of health-care reform that should be targeted but no one is discussing is our tort laws that permit unlimited dollar awards to patients who have been injured by medical people.

We should have caps on any lawsuits brought against doctors and hospitals. When doctors have to pay more than $200,000 in insurance premiuims, you know it is being passed on to the patient. Many countries have caps on lawsuits. We should look at this avenue of health-care reform.
