PROVO — A Provo police officer played the role of stork Wednesday when he helped deliver a baby by the side of the road.
Two women in a car flagged down officer Devon L. Jensen shortly before 7 p.m. at 1860 S. University Ave. They had just exited I-15 on their way to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Jensen found one of the women starting to give birth to a baby and called for paramedics. But there was no time.
"The baby decided it was time, and with the help of officer Jensen, a baby boy was born," a city news release stated.
Paramedics soon arrived and took the mother and child to the hospital, where both were reported to be doing well.
