Buddhist scholar to present lecture

Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche, a teacher and scholar of the highest level in Tibetan Buddhism, will give a public lecture on Thursday, Jan. 7, 7:30 p.m.

The lecture is titled "Making This Human Life Meaningful." There also will be a weekend teaching on Jan. 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2-5 p.m. both days.

All are welcome and no prior experience is necessary. Both events will be held at the Episcopal Church Center of Utah, 75 S. 200 East.

Donations of $15 for the talk and $35 each day for the teaching are suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Christian initiation workshops planned

SALT LAKE CITY — The Catholic Diocesan Offices of Liturgy, Religious Education and Hispanic Ministry will present a series of workshops discussing the different stages of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for RCIA team members, pastors, deacons, lay ecclesial ministers, other catechists, musicians, liturgists and any interested adults. Classes run through March 2010.
