SOUTH OGDEN — Firefighters battled a suspicious blaze Saturday morning at the abandoned South Ogden Junior High School on 4300 Madison Ave.

South Ogden Police Sgt. David Labbe said crews arrived and located what they believe was the point of origin on the second floor just above the stairwell.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

There were indications that someone may have come in the east side of the building, but fire investigators said there was no way to know if that was prior to the fire.

Weber School District spokesman Nate Taggart said the school was set for demolition this week and didn't know how the fire would affect that.

"We don't know if this is going to speed up the schedule, slow down the schedule, or just what's going to take place now," Taggart said.

No injuries were reported.
