A Feb. 4 story on small claims court filings by payday lenders erroneously included filings by Checknet, a collections company. The story should have said payday lenders filed at least 11,250 small claims cases in 2009, a 16 percent increase over 2008. About 49 percent of all small claims cases along the Wasatch Front were filed by payday lenders, including a high of 81 percent in the Provo District and 53 percent in the West Jordan District.
