Al peacefully passed away on March 14, 2010 at home in Murray, Utah.He was born in Holladay, Utah to John and Sadie Koning on December 14, 1928. He was a stubborn Dutchman with a soft heart and a twinkle in his eye. Al had a passion for airplanes, buses, and fishing in Alaska with his brothers. He was a proud employee of Western/Delta Airlines; retiring after 48 years of service. He enjoyed driving bus part-time for Lewis Brothers Stages for over 30 years.

Al is survived by his wife, Roma; his son, Michael (Peggy) Koning; his daughters, Robyn Koning (Rod Kujaczynski), Karen (Mark) Manning, Carolyn (Drew) Egan, Cindy Koning, Tamara (Mark) Gunderson; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children; sisters, Virginia (Lee) Jackson, Jody VanKwaewgen; and brother, David (Becky) Koning.

Friends are invited to join the family in celebration of dad's life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, Ut. In honor of Al's wishes a private cremation service was held earlier this week. The family wishes to thank Roma for the love and care she gave Dad. In lieu of flowers hug your child and tell them you love them!
