Claudia Jan
Wester
"Beloved Wife,
Mother & Sister"
The most precious person in my life was called back to Heaven on March 20, 2010. Claudia Jan Staker Wester was born to David and Norma Staker on January 15, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jan, as she liked to be called, was one of a kind. Caring and giving, she lived life to the fullest and was a joy to be around. She was so proud of her three children, Michael Hornsby, Aimie Jan Overby, and Megan (Katie) Hall.
Jan and I were married on December 17, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. We enjoyed being together above all else. She had such an insight into our relationship that I was sure she could, at any given time, know exactly what I was thinking. She loved to have family barbeques, dinners, and get-togethers that she would spend days preparing, wanting to be sure that everything was perfect when the family arrived. She loved her home and took great pride in keeping her house and yard in a meticulous, but comfortable order. Away from her family, she enjoyed taking a drive out to Wendover and trying her luck on the slot machines in the casinos there.
Jan graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968 and attended the University of Utah, where she studied nursing until the requirements of raising a family took precedence over her studies. At the time of her passing, she worked at the Wounded Warrior Transition unit at Camp Williams, where she provided support and assistance to our military personnel who had been injured in service of their country. She was proud of her contributions and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful people she worked with there at Camp Williams.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, David and Norma Staker. She is survived by her husband, John (Rick) Wester; her sisters, Teddy Cheney and Margaret (Maggie) Croley; her brother, David Staker; her children, Mike and his wife, Kerrie, Aimie and her husband Jeff, Katie and her husband Andy, and stepson, John J. Wester and his wife, Jen; and two grandchildren, Savanna and Samantha Overby.
Funeral services will be at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So.
