SALT LAKE CITY — Instead of warning her sons against a life of crime, police say one Kearns mom actually kept a lookout as her two adult sons burglarized a Salt Lake home last week.
Salt Lake police responded to a call after neighbors witnessed two men pull up in a stolen white van and run to the back of a house near 1750 S. 1500 East while their mother waited outside in another vehicle, according to charges filed in the 3rd District Court Wednesday.
Police were questioning the woman while officers found Nathan Sanchez, 29, hiding in the master bedroom and his 26-year-old brother, Joseph Sanchez, hiding next to a laundry basket with a handgun in it, the charges state.
The brothers were searched and police found money, gift cards and a mp3 player with headphones, which the homeowner later said belonged to him, according to the charges.
Both brothers were charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, theft and theft by receiving stolen property, second-degree felonies. The boys' mother, Amy Louise Sanchez, 47, was charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and theft, a second-degree felony.
