Verona "Tonie"

Hanson

Fairbanks

1926 ~ 2010

Verona "Tonie" Hanson Fairbanks passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 23, 2010 in Logan at the home of her son where she had been living for several years while courageously dealing with deteriorating health. Verona was born in Salt Lake City to Almina Sorensen and Harmon Hanson on May 30, 1926. Tonie was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to Oliver Kendall Fairbanks on October 16, 1946. They shared wonderful times together in Kearns, Salt Lake City, Manhatten (Kansas) and, lastly, Sandy. Together they had six children, Steven (Aleta), Robert (Kathy), Tom (Shauna), Susan (Mark) McCoy, KathiLynn Balsmeier and Linda (Van) Spiers.

Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her life was an example of service to her fellowmen. Mom served wherever called but especially enjoyed her years as Primary President(s). Mom was admired for her organizational skills and her attention to details. After Ken's passing, Mom served a full-time mission in Winnipeg, Canada and on her return, moved to Silver Pines Senior Center in Sandy where many treasured friends were made.

Mom's greatest desire was for a "forever family". Mom sacrificed for, loved and was so proud of her children, 39 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Mom adored not only her brothers and sisters and their spouses, but also Ken's.
