BYU's 40th annual Sidney B. Sperry Symposium, scheduled for October 2011, has issued a call for proposals for papers, which are due by April 1.Papers should explore the cultural, doctrinal and ecclesiastical contexts of Lehi's dream and Nephi's vision in 1 Nephi 8, 11-14. Proposals should be a one-page essay, with four separate paragraphs detailing the central question the research will endeavor to answer, a preliminary thesis, a brief sketch of the kinds of sources (primary and secondary) consulted and special experience or training.Proposals should be submitted as a Word, WordPerfect or PDF document attachment to Patty Smith at patty_smith@byu.edu. Proposals should also include the submitter's name, occupation, address, phone number, E-mail address and a working title for the proposal. Final papers should be between 15 and 25 pages long.
