VERNAL — More than 100 inmates have a new home after they were moved into a new correctional facility Sunday night.

Multiple police agencies helped transport the inmates from a jail at 152 E. 100 North in Vernal to a new Public Safety Complex at 641 E. 300 South. Uintah County Sheriff Jeff Merrell praised the three-hour effort for its efficiency and safety.

"It was a large task that went well," he said. "The involvement of the other agencies is typical of the joint cooperation all agencies have in providing the best law enforcement to our citizens."

The new complex houses the jail as well as the county attorney, justice court and sheriff's office.
