EPHRAIM — Snow College's Joshua Vincent will join 75 others from community colleges in 28 states and Puerto Rico on a tour of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston this May. While on tour he will help to develop robotic explorers that will rove the surfaces of other planets.
The three-day event is the culmination of the National Community College Aerospace Scholars pilot program, which included four assignments during the past year. It gives the students a chance to learn more about careers in science and engineering. Each will be part of a team that designs a prototype rover for the space program, including budget outlines, communications and presentations.
"NASA is very proud of the outstanding work these students already have completed," said Deborah Hutchings, program manager at Johnson. "These students have a unique opportunity to preview how a career in science, technology, engineering or math can lead them on a journey of space exploration."
