Donald M. Hogle
"The Huckster"
An icon of the Hogle family and the Salt Lake community, Donald M. "Huck" Hogle passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at age 67, of cancer. Our beloved Huck has entered into a new journey in his eternal life. As a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Huck passed away with sober dignity.
Born on June 11, 1942 as the third son of Bonnie Smith Hogle and James Edward Hogle who preceded him in death, Huck is survived by his brothers James (Theda), Hugh
(Carol) and Owen (Sheri). Carrying on his life are his wonderful children Torry (Edward), Chris (Julie), Alex, Wynne, Brooke (Don), Michael (Wendy), and Falyn (Nathaniel). Huck is blessed with special grandchildren Amberly, Tyler, Jacob, Emily, Althea, Hunter and Mykah.
Huck is remembered by family, his many friends and business associates as a vibrant, generous and independent spirit with a great love of life. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Art with a Business minor at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, 1966. Huck loved his family and his work, art, travel, local politics, and spending time with family and friends conversing about current events of which he was always well-informed.
President of the Salt Lake, Garfield & Western Railway for the past thirty years, Huck also served on numerous boards and advisory councils, and was an enthusiastic fundraiser for Utah's Hogle Zoo and other local charities.
His children say in loving memory, "Our beloved father has reunited with his own mom and dad. He has left us with strengths and knowledge to raise our families. He loved and cherished his grandchildren; may they always remember their Grandpa Huck."
Private family services will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Huck's memory to Utah's Hogle Zoo.
