In a concerted effort to help keep children out of the emergency room, Safe Kids Utah will sponsor free car-seat checks, sports safety clinics and safety fairs, in conjunction with local health departments.

Every day, 130 Utah children up to age 14 are treated in an emergency department for an unintentional injury.

"Making simple choices like buckling up a child in a car or booster seat, wearing a helmet and supervising children when they are near water will go a long way in keeping children out of the emergency room," said Christi Fisher, director of Safe Kids Utah.
