North Temple, Salt Lake City) — Less than a year old, this facility also has Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune editions on microfilm.Local collections — Past editions of many newspapers are stored on microfilm at local libraries, historical societies, genealogical societies and state archives where the newspaper is published. Libraries outside your area may have the staff to send a copy of an obituary if provided with specific names and dates.GenealogyBank.com — A subscription site that specializes in providing old newspaper content for family history research. The collection contains more than 130 million obituaries and death records.Ancestry.com — The subscription site's database includes a U.S. obituary collection with more than 21 million records and several smaller collections of local newspapers.Deseretnews.com — Users can search the digital archives for obituaries dating back to 1990. The historic archives have searchable PDF scans of newspapers that can be searched by date from June 15, 1850, through Dec. 30, 1988.ChroniclingAmerica.loc.gov — Home to the National Digital Newspaper Program, this site provides access to newspaper collections from 15 states, including Utah, and the District of Columbia from 1880 to 1922. The site also has a directory of what newspapers have been published, when and where from 1690 to 2009.DigitalNewspapers.org — A collection of Utah newspapers being indexed by the University of Utah and BYU as part of the NDNP. Provides access to 49 Utah newspapers, from the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune to the Vernal Express and Wasatch Wave.
