BOUNTIFUL — Joleen Willey has been selected to be grand marshal of the Bountiful Handcart Days Parade, set for July 23.
Willey, the widow of Donald Marion Willey, has been active in maintaining the histories of the Willey family. The Willeys are one of the original families of Bountiful. The first home built by pioneer Jeremiah Willey has been preserved and is the log cabin on Main Street near City Hall and the Bountiful/Davis Arts Center.
Jeremiah's son, Joseph Willey, farmed in Davis County and moved to Bountiful. Joseph's son, Marion Willey, founded the famous Ford dealership with his son, Donald Marion Willey. Donald subsequently opened two other car dealerships in Bountiful.
