SARATOGA SPRINGS –– Saratoga Springs' city manager has resigned to take a position with the City of North Salt Lake.
Ken Leetham presented his resignation to Mayor Mia Love and members of the City Council at a meeting on Wednesday night, giving officials a six-week notice. He will become North Salt Lake's community and economic development director in mid-August.
"I was just looking for a change," said Leetham, who has been the city manager for nine years. "I've been in Saratoga Springs a long time and I'm looking for a new set of professional challenges."
Love said Leetham is leaving the city on good terms and that the change should be good for the city in the long run. "We'll miss Ken," she said. "It's a good change for him. I think (getting someone new) will be an exciting thing for Saratoga Springs at the same time."
Saratoga Springs will post the city manager position on Friday, and it will be open until July 16. The City Council will then interview the candidates. Love said officials hope to find a replacement by late July or early August.
Leetham's separation agreement will be presented for City Council approval on Tuesday.
