Marvin D Salisbury, 86 of Richfield, Utah, passed away peacefully May 30, 2010, in Richfield after a struggle with cancer. He was born December 13, 1923, in Richfield, Utah, to Bertrand and Vernessa Cook Salisbury. His mother died when he was 10 years old and his father married Lottie Sorensen.
Marvin grew up in Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School. He was later drafted into the US armed forces and served during World War II.
Marvin married Vera LaRae Barratt, April 24, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Marvin worked as an ice cream maker, milkman and fork lift driver. Marvin and Vera raised their boys in Richfield. He was active in the LDS Church and served as a volunteer fireman for 33 years with Richfield Fire Department and served a term as Chief.
Marvin is survived by his wife,
Vera of Richfield; sons, Michael (Jannette) Salisbury, Richland, WA; Robert (Lisa) Salisbury, Pleasant View; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Harry) Graves, Oceanside, CA: Jeri Ward, Meridian, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Joyce (Ramon) Anderson, Lois Ogden and Francis (Bert) Staples; brother-in-law, Norris Ward.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the Richfield 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 985 S 400 W. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Sevier Post #5050.
