OREM, Utah —The Orem Public Library has been named a FamilySearch affiliate, giving patrons access to the world's largest collection of resources for genealogy research.

By partnering with FamilySearch.org, a website provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the city library can provide access to millions of rolls of microfilm and microfiche for a fee of $5.50.

Requested rolls of the microfilm are delivered to the library from the Family History Library where they're stored, 40 miles to the north.

Patrons will have 30 days to view the material. Loan renewals and indefinite loans are also possible, said Kyrstin Anderson, Orem library spokeswoman.

\"To better facilitate this change, the Orem library has set up a room with microfilm and microfiche readers, as well as a ScanPro 2000, which offers the latest technology for viewing, scanning and then saving microfilm images to the patron's flash drive,\" Anderson said in a press release.

The public library also offers patrons access to three of the largest genealogical research databases: Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest and World Vital Record. Ancestry.com can only be accessed at the library, but Heritage Quest and World Vital Record can be accessed from home using a library card.
