LAYTON — A Florida woman remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after jumping from an I-15 overpass late Friday in an apparent suicide attempt.

About 10:30 p.m., Layton police were called to check on a woman who was standing on the Antelope Drive overpass, according to a Utah Highway Patrol report. Before they arrived, however, the 49-year-old woman apparently jumped from the north side of the bridge into northbound traffic.

Am investigation indicates that the woman was hit by a Chevrolet Cavalier, the report states. She was taken by ambulance to McKay Dee Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the car was uninjured.

According to the UHP, northbound traffic was temporarily diverted off the freeway, but the road was reopened by 11 p.m.
